This question crossed Sergio Mena Barretos mind over the course of two years, ever since the idea for Voltei!
started to take shape.After writing two books in the area of ​​personal development – ​​Zona de Coragem, from 2008 and Top Five, from 2013 – his next two projects would be about influence in business and conscious leadership.
“It would be good to point out, because the story of Kekão – now Keka – couldnt get out of my head and took precedence over everything”, says the executive.Keka, a small black and white shih-tzu, is the second generation dog at Sergios house, one of more than fifty million homes in Brazil that have pets as a natural part of the family.
The first shih-tzu in the house was Kekão, an old acquaintance from the Pinheiros neighborhood and a regular at the bars in Vila Madalena for almost sixteen years.
Sergio went through all the stages of those who live with animals: from including the new member in the family to initial care, training, check-ups, to aging and the dreaded moment of loss, which he defines as “terrible”.
After the mourning, he swore he would never have a dog again.
It was then that an event shook his convictions.
From the idea of ​​not having a new pet to the arrival of the second one, not four months have passed.
“The transition between Kekão and Keka happened in a surprising way, with aspects that involve spirituality.
For all its meaning, it was a huge divine blessing in my life”, he says.
From the first moment, he realized that this would be his new book.
“My experience could not go unreported.
It became urgent because it was a message of hope and healing.” All that was missing was the how.
Then one day, he heard a dog voice inside his head: “I tell the story, the voice spoke to me.
It was as simple and direct as everything in the text”, comments Sérgio.
All experiences in the book were then dictated directly from the “dog voice” to the reader.
Everything your dog would like you to know – reflections on human inconsistency, carelessness with others, carelessness with ones own energy – is in the book.
“A pure look, without malice, reminding us of the importance of purpose and being light”, concludes Sergio.

It was written over three years.
Keka, the second protagonist of the text, is now five years old and is the exact continuation of her predecessor, with the same habits.
As a curiosity, the book features a photo album comparing the two canine generations and their peculiar attitudes.
